Old Vine
Pinotage
About the wine…
This wine offers a true taste of heaven with every glass. Its full-bodied, ruby red appearance, aroma of fresh cherries with a hint of spice and red fruit and mocha on the palate are reason enough to rejoice. This Pinotage pairs best with a hearty meat dish, such as game, beef or lamb. It also beautifully compliments spiced red cherry dessert dishes and vanilla and cinnamon gelato. This wine pairs equally well with various cheese and preserve platters, as with all beautiful wines.
This 2020 Old Vine Pinotage will be best enjoyed between mid 2022 to 2027, as its tertiary aromas develop.

To create this stunning Pinotage, the grapes are harvested at the optimum phenolic ripeness, as smaller berries, to offer excellent colour and flavour intensity. After that, they are soaked for 7 days on skins in open fermenters at precisely 25°C. The grapes used for our Old Vine Pinotage were grown during a low rainfall, moderate ripening season and experienced cool nights and harvested during warm, dry days. The fermentation process of these grapes then continue for 16 months in 100% French oak barrels, which contributed to the wine’s delectable flavour.
Produced from 45 year old, single vineyards, the grapes used for this wine were predominately grown in Tukulu and Dresden soils at the base of shale. These Old Vine vineyards are located in the heart of the Cape Winelands, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch in South Africa.
